Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Yup, hopefully coming later this year. Also, there was some news that Dell was working on more standardization of Alienware desktop, for the latest model. So if the set up is standardized, then they can offer AMD CPU with V-Cache at some point. Going back to the "Pro" line of laptops, which...

Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Inspiron is their consumer line, and those have been around for some time. The "Pro" is their commercial line of PCs, and this is brand new. It seems like announcement is coming imminently. I just randomly discovered these new commercial listing on Dell web site, with availability date of...

Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

I went through the list of 12 "Pro" laptops, and 5 of 12 are now AMD based: (hopefully formatting will work) 1. Dell Pro 14 Inch Laptop with AMD Ryzen Processor | Dell United States 2. Dell Pro 14 with AMD Ryzen AI Pro | Dell United States 3-6 Intel 7. Dell Pro 13 Plus 2-in-1 Laptop with AMD...

Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Some thought this day would never this day: Dell commercial PC with AMD processors. So far, I see: - mid range CoPilot with Kracken CPU (Ryzen 350) - lower range with Hawk Point (Ryzen 220) - a Threadripper (!!!) workstation. - Micro Mini PC desktop (Phoenix) - Tower desktop (Phoenix) Here is...

Discussion AMD SoC Halo series GPU discussion

Having a mid-life upgrade, Strix Halo SoC + Zen 6, while maintaining FP11 compatibility, LPDDR5 compatibility and keeping Strix Halo RDNA3.5 SOC could be a possibility, if the full Medusa Halo is a 2027 product (with LPDDR6) BTW, I have a weird feeling that AMD actually deliberately leaked...

    Question SemiAccurate acquires AnandTech?

The forums first became hell of censorship, and ended with the ultimate act of censorship - they were shut down.

    Question SemiAccurate acquires AnandTech?

It would be interesting if the April Fools article is the most read and most newsworthy article on SemiAccurate of the past year.

    Question SemiAccurate acquires AnandTech?

This could be good news and bad news for the forums. Forums are currently in a limbo, but if they are acquired by SemiAccurate, we can see some communist censorship like there was on SemiAccurate forums.

Question Intel's future after Pat Gelsinger

The one of more interest to AMD is Altera. I would not be surprised if the turmoil surrounding Altera is helping AMD / Xilinx win some business.

Discussion AMD SoC Halo series GPU discussion

If the connection between the SoC and CCD is standardized, then it might be possible to sell Zen 6 CCD with Strix Halo SoC. And this combo might be ready before the full Medusa Halo. It could also explain conflicting info on version of RDNA: Strix Halo SoC + Zen 6 CCD would be 3.5 Monolithic...

Discussion AMD SoC Halo series GPU discussion

From MLID: he says that Medusa Halo can be 256 bit LPDDR5 or 384 bit LPDDR6, and either socket FP11 or FP 12. Since socket FP11 is Strix Point package, it seems like AMD is planning on releasing backward compatible version of Medusa Halo for LPDDR5, but the new version will be 384 bit LPDDR6.
