Yup I also tried the 428's and the 439 are a whole leage above them and majorly more comfortable too. The 428's were painful in a relativley short time.
I got these Hd439 refurbs from VMInnovations for $45.xx with a 5% coupon found after liking them on FB.
They look new and come with both...
Thanks, I will try switching around the fans that are PWM controlled.
I only have two PWM headers on this MB, so will pair the CM 212 fan with one of the Arctic fans. And leave the other Arctic fan on it's own.
The other thing I will try is to flex mount some of the fans using two cable ties...
Hi there,
I just transplanted and upgraded from my beloved Lian Li to el cheapo case to take advantage of 120mm fans and normal front-to-back airflow. Here's what I've swapped out so far:
LIAN LI PC-60APLUSII >> CoolerMaster 431 Elite Plus
AMD Phenom 925 2.8Ghz (95w) >> Amd Phenom 970 3.5Ghz...
I let it slip by, the listing just ended with zero bids.
Chip was up for grabs at a few cents over $100 shipped.
The seller had overclocked it for a month or two. And also had zero seller feedback.
Too risky, shame I really want to get this chip at this price!
Thanks for the input guys.
Thanks, I was just thinking of buying a used FX 6300 on fleabay and thought I'd check first!
Glad I did, I was thinking it was like a hard drive where the warranty stays with the drive regardless of ownership.
BTW I just bought a 'used' new Asus M5A97 EVO motherboard (a warranty replacement)...
Just wondering how does AMD determine warranty coverage?
Specifically in the case of my buying a used boxed CPU.
Do they go from the date code / serial number (like a hard drive RMA) or require receipts etc?
Thanks,
Not sure if the OP purchased yet but unless he has a MicroCenter nearby it may be worth waiting for a week or so as AMD is apparently dropping the price of the FX-6300 by ~15% by the end of this month.
I'm patiently waiting for this so I can grab one at around $105 is my estimate :)
No...
I just transplanted a new motherboard in my computer, went well even after not doing a clean instal of Windows 7 64. And that was with a completely different chipset.
And I also upgraded my ram to 16GB
Anyhow I got a 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive and was wondering how to test it out and a light bulb...
I have an old T60 laptop and it currently dual boots XP and Win 7 Pro.
When I went to install Win 7 I tried to use 64 bit but it could only take the 32 bit version.
Now your T61 may be able to accept 64bit but I would suspect that you will also be stuck with 32 bit. Works fine on mine, which...
