GOG Connect - Connect your Steam account & get DRM Free versions

I don't see any downsides to connecting GOG to Steam. Yes, once you add something to GOG, it should stay there forever. The caveat is that there's typically a small window during which you can add certain games. I've added The Witcher 1 and 2 to my account so far, and it was pretty easy to do so.

Thanks for confirming my point. A non-overclocked 2500k averages 45 fps which perfectly matches what my AMD 480 averages. My overclocked 2500k would do even better. 404 rubbish not found.

My i5 2500k at 4.3 GHz is 5 years old and still handles games great. I recently upgraded to an AMD 480 and 16GB of RAM for $275, which should last me another few years. I'll recoup some of that cost from selling my old 7870 and 8GB of RAM.

I have no idea about the 3rd party through Amazon. As long as the reviews are favorable, I'm hoping to snag a CF791 for $800 - $900 sometime within the next year. I'll probably buy from Amazon since they're supposed to be great about monitor returns for any reason.

Remind me why people don't like Electronic Arts

I don't think the hate was around Origin, although a lot of people still dislike it. The hate involved things like day-one DLC and shutting down servers early to "encourage" people to buy the newest games.

Radeon RX480

I recommend checking the PCIe cable from your power supply to make sure it's plugged in correctly. Another thing to do would be to download both Heaven and GPU-Z. Run Heaven in a window and GPU-Z next to it where you can monitor temps, voltages, etc. to see if anything is out of the ordinary...

Gaming chair recommendation

I have two chairs: a recliner and a mesh desk chair. I use my recliner when I play with a controller and my desk chair when using a kb and mouse. It's a bit of a pain switching them, but it's really nice to game in the recliner using a controller.

There is a point of diminishing returns for overclocking. To reach 1340/2200, I only had to bump up the power limit by 10% while keeping the voltage stock. While this gave me a 6% performance boost over stock clocks, this card was already running at 1288 compared to 1120 MHz of a reference 480...

I did a little bit of testing with my XFX GTR 480 last night. I let it idle for an hour, and the card was 31° with the fans off. So, I'd say the heatsink is quite impressive. At stock, I think the fan profile is too aggressive. The fans were running at 74% to keep the card at 65° under load. I...

I just installed an XFX GTR over the weekend. So far, it seems really nice. The 3-year warranty on the card and 5-year warranty on the replaceable fans are big pluses to me. I'll check the temps and try some overclocking tonight.

Which new Video card do you think offers the best performance per dollar?

I just ordered the XFX 480 card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814150782 It was $235 using MPGAMER16 code and should be $215 after the mail-in rebate. It should be a really nice upgrade over my 7870.
