ME to 2K upgrade path !?

well, i tried to upgrade WinMe to Win2k... the setup program doesn't recognise the WinMe, saying something about invalid windows version, and then setup quits... so no, i don't think u can upgrade from winme to win2k

Mate, what BIOS have u got? Because different BIOS have different beep codes me thinks... For Award BIOS a Long beep followed by 3 short beeps is video card problems... So just check what BIOS you've got.

OC'ing a PIII 800EB on a CUSL2

Yeah, have u tried to use the setting 133:100:33? Maybe that will work? In the manual of the motherboard it actually says that if u try to overclock to like 150 or something u should use that setting. Also, I've seen some guy here running his CUSL2 @ 177:133:33 (Or there abouts, can't exactly...

Anyone else see Celeron 600 stock 1.7 volts???

Yeah, well usually the safe voltage is +10% of the stock volts, so in your case it's about 1.85V. There is no specific "stable" volt for each corresponding FSB speed for each CPU... u just try to up the FSB until it isn't stable, and then increase the volts on 0.05 increments until...

Yep, I agree with night181 totally, except u'd probably need decent ram if u can't get to his FSB and want to run ur system at 133:133:33.

Is this good too overclock ?

Yeah, it depends on quality of your CPU. But dun forget you'll be running your CPU 33% above it's rated speed... pretty dangerous in any language :D Though I suppose it depends if you want your CPU to last or u want to trash it to get the highest possible speed.

Oh yeah, and computerwiz, why they need to increase the yield though? Isn't the yield enough already? Does that mean that Intel's chip making process is like "degrading" ie. less CPUs are making the grade, meaning that they then increase the volts similar to what we do in overclocking?

If you want stability, u're definitely looking at ASUS. Put it this way, Anand tested the ABIT SA6R and they're saying the ABIT SA6R is really stable... with only TWO CRASHES A DAY! The ASUS CUSL2 is, by far, one that doesn't crash at all... so need I say more? Personally because your setup is...

See your other post for difference between cB0 and cC0 =) Anyways, don't think overclocking is guarenteed though... like, I've got a cB0 700e on CUSL2 that can only do 875 at 1.75Vs... and I think 933 at 1.85 Vs. So u want something that's pretty safe overclock wif good performance? Try 800B...

I think the steppings are just the ways the CPU interprets instructions... Now, cB0 stepping is older than the cC0 stepping, and the reason that a new stepping is released is to mainly fix the bugs that associated with the older stepping. Newer steppings are usually easier to overclock, due to...

Retail or OEM cpu

Yeah, think it's mainly luck that separates the overclockability of OEM and retail chips. So if u're planning to o/c probably best to go for OEM since u're not paying for the crap intel hsf and can get ur kick arse hsf with a total cost less than the retail cpus.
