heh, sorry, wasn't thinking it would have anything to do with hardware.. let me also mention that the cd-r burning works perfectly, havn't burnt a failure yet as far as that goes. sys specs: amd xp 2000+ 512mb ddr sdram @ 233mhz epox 8k7a (amd 761 \ via 686b chipset), onboard via sound asus...

I am having issues with my dvd burner, i have been trying to burn a copy of a movie that i ripped using dvd shrink, and i have tried using dvd+r disks to no avail. what seems to be happening is the data is written but nothing can read the data. the reason i know the data is being written is...

alright, figured out a way to install the drivers for my radeon (used some drivers that were previously extracted) installed those, got a hang and a beep again (im gonna name it the beep of death). I think signs are pointing to my radeon, any ideas, gonna go check out some ati websites for...

Re-installing Win2kPro

try running memtest86, it will tell you if your ram is causing those problems, which is one possibility. if your overclocked, go back to normal clock speed and try again.

well the geforce2mx400 is back in now, and no lock ups so far, would really suck if my ati card has gone down the poop chute, its maybe 4 months old :( still, if anybody has any ideas of what I can try, or prior expirences with something like this, please lemme know =)

just an update to my thread, sometimes my computer will hard lock and then make a pc speaker beep type noise, except it comes through my speakers... I still have no clue what is going on with this thing, I cant make any sence of it

windows xp trouble, some help please!

I am having some issues with windows xp at the moment. whenever i try to install my ati catalyst drivers, they freeze the whole machine. also, if i try to load into the administrator or my gf's profiles, the machine freezes.. my profile works luckily. and by freeze, i mean it first haults...

diamond viper v770 (non ultra)

i found the 6.x series is very stable for that card, but the latest detinators are probably just as good

Should Skoorb buy a GF3 TI 200 or a GF 4 MX 440

i dont like the whole idea of the geforce 4 mx either, but its almost as fast as the geforce 3 ti 200, but has the features of the geforce 4, go check out a review or two
