Today I needed to quickly build a new computer to replace a broken workstation at work. I had some parts from a build that never happened a couple of years ago. AMD Ryzen 5 4600G, ASRock X570 PHANTOM GAMING 4, 16 GB Ram, 1 TB M.2. Recycled data drives and case from broken computer.
I didn’t...
That would have been an idea. But his old computer has so much baggage, that I want to start with a fresh install.
I contacted Sordum.net, the makers or ReIcon. They helped me sort it out. If the file extensions are hidden in one profile, they have to be hidden in the other profile or vice...

I contacted Sordum.net, the makers or ReIcon. They helped me sort it out. If the file extensions are hidden in one profile, they have to be hidden in the other profile or vice versa. I had them shown in the primary and hidden in the target. Works perfectly now.
Yeah, but, I am trying to move a user to a new computer. He is a "Hoarder" and has over 400 icons on his desktop. Taking a screenshot and getting them all arranged in the same order will take a while. Going to explore all the other possibilities first.
I am building a new computer for someone in our office. (both Windows10) He has a completely full desktop of icons (like 400 icons) arranged in only a way that he understands. I copied the contents of his desktop folder into the folder on the new computer, but how can I preserve positioning?
I...
Thanks,
I can image the HD and connect it to the new machine. That is probably what I will do today. I have yet to find the steps to transfer the mail. The Photos, documents, and iTunes is pretty straightforward.
Yeah, the mail... This computer hasn't been used regularly ,but my wife has been...
The migration assistant is set up to migrate either the computer or the time machine backup of that computer. I don't see a method to migrate directly from a drive.
And, the Migration assistant won't run against the Snow Leopard OSX because it says it is too old. I have a complete time machine...
I have an ancient 2007 MBP that still has Snow Leopard on it. My wife used to use it a lot but it has been in the closet for years. I plugged in an external drive and turned on time machine.
I tried to use the time machine drive to transfer to my newly purchased Macbook Pro, but it told me it...
Thanks, I was leaning toward that. I asked Chat-GPT too. Here is what it said:
For compatibility between Mac and Windows systems, both exFAT and NTFS are viable options, but each has its own advantages and disadvantages:

I have a brand new 4GB SSD external drive. My M1 Macbook Pro has Paragon NTFS installed on it. I need to be able to use the drive on PC's and my Macbook.
Paragon NTFS seems to work fine. Are there any advantages to using exFat over NTFS for formatting this new drive?
No recent changes. Is an old computer though. I have replaced the case fan about a year ago and put a new fan/cooler on the cpu. It is an older computer though. AMD FX-4300 I believe.
I have a computer that is throwing a BSOD every day at least once or twice. I have to force a reboot and there is a bugcheck. I am not sure how to read the report. Can someone please help me read this report?
I have updated WinDbg to the newest version and run Analysis on it and this is what it...
I used to use SpamFighter. It seemed to work well... until it didn't. I can't get it to even install on my new computer. When it worked I really liked it. It integrated well with Thunderbird and grabbed a lot of spam and didn't seem to have too many false positives.
