I'd buy the tank and the and the initial supplies from the local store.
Always good to be able to get advice about the hobby.
Most chain pet store clerks wont be much help if you run into problems.
Some are pretty knowlegible, but don't seem to stay there for long.
Once you start needing to...
Use a VGA Silencer instead.
Great cooling, quiet, cheap, and it doesn't fill your case with heat like the Zalman does.
Exhausting extra heat through the pci slot is a definite bonus for xpc cases.
Had to mod my Zalman MFC1 a bit to fit.
Moved the bracket holes forward about 1/8 inch, and mounted it on an old 3.5 to 5.25 harddrive mount.
Has the same setback as the floppy. Rails make it nice to work on.
You might want to practice a little before tackling the motherboard.
Go to the shack and get some cheap resistors and a printed board.
Practice soldering and desoldering without burning anything up.
When you get comfy with that tackle the mobo.
Since the 2400+M runs at a lower voltage than your 1700 it should be no problem.
I'm running mine on a Zalman 92mm flower running at 8 volts. Nice, cool, and above all Quiet.
Not stressing it though , just running it at 200 X 10.
