I used to have 4 of them (bought them all at Microcenter as a combo with motherboard for $99). I upgraded two of the systems to a 4770K and a 4590 (getting about $20 reselling the old G3258s on Ebay). They were all running at 4.2 Ghz. Two of my G3258 systems are still running, used in...
Dell has a laptop with Ryzen and Vega, but the higher end is pricey:

I agree with going for an i7, with one exception. The i5-8250u is perfectly good for work and gaming - it has 4 cores and hyperthreading, I have a laptop with the i5 8250u (Dell Inspiron 15 5570) and after using Intel tuning software, it actually outscores the average 8550u. Here are some...
Nice you were able to get a replacement screen. I had a cheap windows tablet (Onda, but virtually same spec as yours) and also had the screen crack while traveling. I couldn't get a clear answer on what replcement screen to buy for my model. The system worked OK with the crack, but at some...
I would guess that the eMMC storage is soldered onto the motherboard - at least it usually is in tablets - so you won't be able to upgrade the storage beyond getting a large microSD card.
I did finally get Wifi working in Windows. I tried many drivers, but one mentioned here finally worked (for anopther tablet):

I had to...
I did the same, but the first few times I tried to install the play store I received a lot of errors. However I was finally able to get it on, and now things are a lot better. So I'm reasonably happy now.
Performance wise, on Android, it is pretty nice browsing with the built-in Android...
I received mine today. There are a few minor scratches on the screen, which make it look lightly used. The biggest issue is the overall out-of-box experience.
Windows: Wasn't expecting much here, but its not too bad. A little bit peppier than I expected. However it won't connect to my...
I'm not expecting a great Windows experience with this tablet - I've already owned one with similar specs, and I know it will lag and bog down at times. Last I checked, the windows App store was still pretty crappy. I'm buying this mainly as an Android tablet, with the Windows OS being a...
What the heck - I decided to buy one. I figure I can easily sell it for this price (or more) on Ebay if I don't like it, so there not much to lose as long as it is not DOA.
Have to admit - this looks pretty cool, at least as an Android tablet.
I bought the Winbook windows 10" tablet, which has virtually identical specs, but a lower resolution display. It wasn't bad, but the performance was just too inconstant. Sometimes it would work great, and other times it...
Received mine - it feels faster than the Samsung 830 that I had before. I think the same drive was on sale at NewEgg for a little cheaper, but I'm still happy with this deal. Don't worry about speed - this drive is plenty fast in real world usage.
