How do I upgrade WinME w/ XP Home OEM CD?

No error code, just no ability to upgrade. What I'm looking for is a work around so I can upgrade my existing windows installation to WindowsXP with this OEM CD. Yeah it's not supported, but then again, I know that it has been done with Windows 2000 and Windows 98SE as well in the past for...

I recently got an OEM CD of WindowsXP and I need to upgrade my system rather than a full reinstallation. But it tells me the only option is to do a full install. Is there a way of working around this?

AthlonMP in a single processor mobo

Hey all, I was wondering if it is possible to run an AthlonMP in a single processor based motherboard. Non AMD based. Reason I ask about this is that currently the highest processor I have been able to find in a 266MHz FSB was the AthlonXP 2600+ and then realized that the 2800+ MP was available...

Asus nVidia Geforce 4MX 2D is terrible. Which dual monitor ATI to get? Sapphire?

You guys are generalizing way too much. At the moment I have an ATi Radeon 8500LE and it's really nice in 2D... but my friend who has a GF3 Ti200 has better... it just seems more crisp. Reason? It's a Leadtek! Asus's cards suck for 2D, this I know... so does the cards from Abit, eVGA, Gainward...

Computer case sound dampeners - do they really work?

lol, well... I had a delta and it shut it up pretty good... it doesn't remove all noise, but the annoying higher pitched sounds are definitely muffled quite nicely. Temps went up by 0.5C

USB VS PS2 mouse

if I remember correctly, just go to the mouse options and it should be there... it may not necessarily be labeled "mouse smoothing" though... it could be mouse filter, or other name... Of course you ask for one of the games that I don't know the specific spots for :P

uh huh... sure... whatever you say... lol yeah, PS/2 has the potential to get 200hz but it's really not that much better than 125... Besides... the mouse has to be able to send 200x second... and most cheap mice do not... If you've got a newer optical, or balled MS or Logitech you're set...

What CPU speed is good enough for typical use?

Duron 1.3GHz 256MB PC133 K7S5A 40GB Maxtor DiamondPlus 9 nuff said. Built something similar to this for my dad, works great :) Whole thing together ran me about $190 (just those components listed, the whole system ended up costing $500, stupid 19" monitors...)

USB VS PS2 mouse

If you're using games with a USB mouse under XP make sure you turn off "mouse smoothing" or things like that in the games... windows does it to begin with anyway...... I've found it lags the crap outta my pointing, but once I turn off mouse smoothing it's nice and smooth anyway and non-laggy...
