Windows RAID5 vs. Solaris ZFS/RAIDZ

Still, the gains from ZFS are so freakin' attractive though. If someone made a Windows ZFS driver, I'd be in heaven. Guess I better start learning C or something. Or I suppose I could be a tool and buy an XServe when Snow Leopard comes out.

I wonder how well it would work if you ran Windows Server 2003, running VMWare or VirtualBox, and ran whatever flavor of Solaris in a VM, but connected it directly to your hard drives. I've been thinking of trying this for a while, but don't know how crazy it sounds, or if it's even possible...

Intel Q6600 running hot. Help!

Oldest CPU you are running now???

That's how it's set up now, and it's caused a couple problems, pulling drivers from the wrong folder on some models and not working.

It's not my choice. They tell me to code it like this; I do it so I can get a paycheck. Besides, our remote sites have their own budgets, so they use 6 or 7 year old computers to save money. That's mainly what this sort of thing is for. Anyway, would you run Office 2007 on anything less? :P
