Cannot format network drive?

why use fdisk and format.com when you can use the wd tools and partition/format for use in about 10 seconds?

I'm going to be reformatting. . .

getting back to important hardware drivers... make sure you have the drivers for your network card (or modem). without them, you can't go online to get drivers for the rest of your hardware (unless your OS natively supports your network card or modem)

SCSI benchmarks

I have the same card with a seagate x15-36lp (second generation 15k rpm, 8meg cache). hdtach shows the transfer rate as ~56MB/s at the beginning of the drive and ~42MB/s at the end. you can decide if you need a faster scsi adapter...

Computer won't turn on since power outage in NY.

does your power supply have a voltage switch in the back (i.e one way is 115V, the other is 230V)? if so, with the computer off switch it to 230V then back to 115V. sometimes this "resets" the power supply if it locks up.

What brand of hard drive is it? I know Maxtor and Western Digital for example have bootdisks that will prepare the drive for normal use (basically partition and format, they come with retail drives, not oem, but they can be downloaded from their respective websites). Otherwise, as stated, you...

this is a very common question. basically, hard drive manufacturers use 1 billion bytes to mean 1 gigabyte, when there are really 1073741824 bytes in a gigabyte (one is base 10, the actual number is base 2). there is roughly a 7% discrepancy between actual size and advertised size so if you...

ATTENTION! Can I have a 512DDR DIMM in conjuction with x2 256 DIMMs on my Epox 8K7A?

i would guess that it would be better to get ecc memory since the other stick is ecc... but i don't really know. perhaps someone who knows a bit more can jump in...

i don't have a problem with ecc memory... actually, i've never used it. generally, only servers need registered memory (and some motherboards if you fill all slots) so i don't buy it if i don't need it. if it works for you, i won't talk you out of it.

yes, each slot can handle up to a 512meg stick... you can upgrade by replacing either one or both 256meg sticks with a 512meg stick. it will run fine with a 256meg stick and a 512meg stick. also, why are you using ecc memory?
