Have you checked to make sure your drives (both hard disks and optical drives) are running DMA mode, not PIO mode? That's the last option I can think of. And yes, Windows doesn't always get this setting right, and sometimes runs drives in PIO mode. This could conceivably cause the...

I forgot to mention in my previous post, I had TaskManager running, in the foreground when I did it, and STILL got that drop from 99% to 75-85% going from the 6800NU to the X800XL.
