buying decision: GF4 MX vs GF3?

I think Canadians have that Customs thing to deal with where they gotta pay extra on top of postage for their goods, sorta like legal extortion or some weird thing they got going.

If you're really in for the long term, the GF3 would be worth the extra $50. The GF4MX line of cards sound like overclocked Geforce2 Ultra cards, it doesn't even support all the DX8 features in hardware like the GF3.

Radeon 8500 retail or MSi GF3Ti200??

The only 8500 that has VIVO is the AIW models I think. I wish ATI made an 8500 VIVO card like they did with the Radeon 64MB cards.

Best home tape backup drive?

Get a DDS4 tape drive. Initial costs are kinda high, moreso if you don't already have a SCSI controller, but hey you can't beat 20 GB (native!) tapes for $15! The tape media is pretty damn reliable too from what I hear and even those cheap $500 Sony units comes with a 3 year warranty.

Does RAID make a real world difference?

Which would have a bigger impact on performance on something like a large database program, RAID 0 or SCSI?

Very warm at least...Logitech MOMO FF Wheel/Pedals for $160.00 delivered

IBM 380Z laptop

I have a Thinkpad 380XD, not sure how different your Z model is, but mine maxes out at 96 MB RAM and it uses the more expensive EDO type.

ECS K7S5A. Any good?

AMD 760 vs. KT266A

I've recall the nightmares I've had with VIA, reinstalling different versions of their 4-in-1 drivers on my old SS7 boards for stability/performance reasons. Nice to see some things haven't changed :D And not until the SIS735 came out did I ever feel safe again to venture far from my BX...

Best Possible Athlon XP 1800 system available to make?

Aluminum cases are great if you move your case around a lot, like back and forth to lan parties and such. They're so damn light, when I first received delivery of my Lian-Li, I swore the big box it was in was empty :D
