What's the fastest SCSI HD in the market?

Anyone hear of any problems with Maxtor 160 GB HD

I wouldn't jump for it right now. A lot of these hard drive companies are always in competition for the biggest storage and when they launch 'em this fast some things are always hunky-dory. I'd wait a few weeks for a 7200RPM version to come out.

Shuttle motherboard won't boot

Shuttle motherboard won't boot

Just got my Shuttle AK31v3.1 mainboard up with an Athlon XP 1600+. The hard drives and cdrom drives and fans all turn on fine. So does keyboard and mouse. But, my monitor doesn't do anything...it's just a blank screen. Anyone have some ideas?

WIN2K/NT PEOPLE: You can't have two jumpers on an HD

Nope....maybe it is with your particular model. But I know most of the models require this. It's on Maxtor's knowlege library itself. Not sure why, but you don't need a two jumper configuration. It's not necessary (at least not for my HD's) to have the two jumpers. Not in Linux, 98, or...

WIN2K/NT PEOPLE: You can't have two jumpers on an HD

Is ECC RAM worth it?

The guy above you is correct, but I'll enlighten some more. ECC RAM isn't very effective at error correction anyway. It can only possibly fix 2bits out of a 32bit string of data at this point. So for that, it's not worth it.... ECC RAM is slower, because like the guy above you said, it has...

I'm confused! Are a heatsink and fan the same thing?

I asked a question in the cooling forum about the best fan for a XP CPU and I got the answers for an alpha pal8045 (heatsink?) and a panaflow something (fan?). What do you need two for? I'm confused/. Someone please enlighten me. :)
