ok, this is not a pure CPU question...

when you say "default to DDR333..." does that mean that I can manually change it in mobo config or somthing like that?

ok, this is not a pure CPU question...

ok, I have A64 3000+ on an nForce4 board, now I used to have 2*256mb RAM and now I got another 2*512mb sticks, I wonder what would be better of the two: 1. use 2*512 + 2*256 (4 slots/dimms) i.e 1.5gb of RAM. 2. use only the 2*512 RAM My machine is used for gaming as well as office-web...

Who turns off their hard drives here?

Just out of curiousity (i.e no trolling), why would you leave your computer on for a long time, if it's not being used?

I leave it on. Since usually if I'm not working with the computer, and its on for a long time while I'm away its because I'm d/l stuff, so the hd is working anyway.

what services are safe to disable in win xp sp2?

The only service I know is safe to disable is the "error reporting" otherwise I'm not sure which are safe to disable, though I'm sure I heard that there are quite a few which are safe to disable. Edit: I meant win xp pro sp2

Thermal Gel

you won't see it in the box... It comes as a pad attached to the bottom of your hsf (heat sink fan) Edit: carefull don't remove the plastic protecting it untill you're ready to install!

Need to replace thermal paste?

well, as corkyg sayed... If you can't keep it as a single unit then you'll have to reapply thermal compound of some sort. Though (and this is on your own responssibility), if you live in an area where the wether isn't too hot, and you don't OC, and given you're not using one of the old AXP's...

with the retail version of AMD's A64 cpu's you get a hsf which comes with a great paste. You can read some of the posts at the cpu forum, and see how well people manage to OC using nothing but the retail paste.
