Hey all,
Thanks for the replies. I ended up attaching the drive, creating a partition with disk management and then using the Samsung tool to migrate data over.
It went smoothly and the newly created partition is aligned.
Will mark this solved, in this case anyway.
Kind regards,
Lsv
I'm not sure, I'll have to find the CD. It came with an HBA sata card as part of a software bundle but that was years ago.
In any case I'll probably end up using the Samsung tool and if it did not allign the drive correctly I'll use gparted on a live cd to allign the drive after cloning...
Hey all,
I recently purchased a new SSD and am hoping to just clone the drive.
I am going from an Intel X25-M to a Samsung EVO 840.
My plan is to use the Samsung tool but I can't find information on cloning a boot image? I'm hoping to make this as seamless as possible :)
I also have...
It's easy to find 1U passive heatsinks for a certain socket.
The problem is that 1U Chassis tend to have a million 40mm fans in front or some fancy blower design - making them super loud.
Which is exactly what OP got in a number of replies.
My i7 920 is currently doing 54c idle. Goes to about 65c load. I run my fans are uber low rpm and bring them up to 100% during load to keep the temps manageable on load.
I've not seen any issues and this rig is 5~ years old now.
Hey all,
I can't seem to find a thread providing a solution to this.
My desired setup is 1x 1920x1080 monitor + 3x 1280x1024 monitors.
How should I set this up? For whatever reason my 6950 just doesn't let me have more monitors setup. It says I need to disable monitors before I can...
Thanks, the use case is specifically related to this actually. Another poster said replace the main system and go integrated, however, his system is an i7 930 and 12gigs of ram in an Asus P6T SE. It (the system) is for is music production with Albeton Live and he's just recently bought an R4 to...
Hi all,
A friend of mine has a music production computer with an old PCIE X850 in it that has a very loud fan.
He does not game and is looking for a passive card which is capable of playing back 1080p video and also has HDMI out.
I was thinking a Radeon 5450 or perhaps 6450.
Thoughts?
Honestly I don't know anymore. Unless you are running a shit-ton of VMs you don't really need more than 8gigs. Heck even 4 is ok.
Here's my webserver during mediocre load for example:
Real memory 7.76 GB total, 1.25 GB used
Virtual memory 7.96 GB total, 155.19 MB used
Games of course use...
