Quadro FX 1500 vs. Quadro FX 1700

Can you elaborate on that? There's an enormous difference between the 1500 and 570 in price so I'm skeptical but very interested in your statement.

Linux I'm familiar with, UNIX not so much, but... I was curious and reading about FreeBSD the other night and from what I see, this argument (above) also fits the FreeBSD philosophy. If you're trying to sell him on Debian for those reasons, and what I've read is correct, why not on FreeBSD...

Which video card to buy?

Ok I think this got missed even though I put it in the edit. Which of the 6800s are recommended for high rate of success in unlocking/overclocking? I would prefer a brand name, model, and damn good reason if you can provide it :). Otherwise I'm just going to recommend he get the cheapest...

Every company has duds and to go with them, their own angry mob. BFG a.k.a. "Big Flaming Graphics [card]" has had their share of bad reputations, too, and I believe you mentioned them. I have an XFX 6600GT and I've heard IF you have a problem their support is horrible - i.e. getting crippled...

Sorry, I just have the SP demo. Can tell ya tho, and sorry if I'm repeating my specs cause I can't remember how I set up my sig here at anand, but on my secondary machine, P4 2.66, 1x512 ddr333 at 2.5/7-3-3 and a 9500np @ 350/315, it runs very well. I'll download and try it on this main rig...
