NeoChat is now on a faster and stable IRC server. Geek's Directory is up for good!

#neochat is still live on Undernet, and right now, there's a few people in there. Those of us who run the day to day administration of the channel don't have any plans to take it down anytime soon, either. It's also been tweaked and setup properly in the last few months, and the channel itself...

Of course, you might wanna be careful around the 1024th cylinder thing. That is, for an OS to boot reliably, it's partition must reside below the 1024th cylinder (in the first 8GB of a disk). I do know, however, that some versions of linux can overcome this, and I believe so can some other OSs...

bsd router distribution

I'm planning to do a rather slim install of freebsd on a box for a gateway; Rather than using a 'router' distro, I'm just going to use a standard install disk and keep it as slim as possible. If you've got the hard disk space, and the time & energy, this may be an option for you, jhu. Though...

BeOS and DLink 538TX PCI NIC <- Help?

Are you booting off the boot disk/off Be's own partition? It's quite common for people to have issues with hardware, particularly network cards, when booting from 9x/DOS. Win9x has serious trouble letting go of hardware resources. I'd really suggest everyone playing with BeOS take a look at...

I want to be the BEST programmer in the world... where do I start?

My advice would be to refrain from asking a programming question on a hardware site. Particularly not a consumer hardware site (Not to take away from those who are members here; it's just not 'where it's at'). I can't really recommend any sites to hang around, other than, perhaps, a brief look...
