One question ref the 2494HM. It seems anywhere I look on the net it indicates the 2494HM has a glossy frame (piano black finish). The one I got has the has-usb stand and has a matte finish frame. Anyone else seen this?
Just bought the 2494hm on Thursday. Got it at Canada Computers for $299 CDN $30 bucks off. Have not had time to calibrate the screen but seems to look good so far. It is very bright on the factory default and turned down brightness and contrast to the 30-40 range to prevent my retina's from...
Yes I do like gaming however I use my computer for everything else as well. Looking for all round performance boost for least amount of money. Thinking about an Q6600 and overclocking so I get best performance bang for buck. Will probably wait a year to upgrade to the i7 when they are more...
I am currently overclocking my e6600 to 3.06 on an Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard.
Thinking of upgrading my cpu but don't know the most cost effective one to get (quad or dual). Want to keep my p5b (bios 1236) as accounting (the wife) will not approve both motherboard and cpu as I am also...
Looking at replacing my stock e6600 heatsink so I can try the overclocking thing. I was looking at the Zalman 8700 but not sure if it will fit on my Asus p5b deluxe motherboard.
Anyone know if it will or not?
Thank you for your information. I may just leave it as is. We do occasional file transfer but the network is set up more for internet gaming and web browsing. No point in spending the extra cash for no noticeable increase in speed.
I checked with my cable internet service and with my service I get 10Mbps download and 640kbps upload. So no I guess it won't do much for my internet service. The way I have my wiring (cat 5 bought at Home Depot) set up is modem to router-my computer main floor, wire to basement, switch, then...
About seven years ago I wired the house with cat 5 cable for my network. All has been running well since with cable internet through a linksys wrt54gs router and 10/100 switch for the computers in the basement. Currently I have 3 computers hooked up to the network all gigabyte lan capable...
Well that sucks! Have had the drive for only 6 weeks, used only for storage. Time to talk to Seagate customer support for a return and exchange. I was hesitant on Seagate but bought it due to the 5 year warranty. Have always bought WD in the past with no failures. A couple of my WD 40gb...
When I boot the computer (I have 3 hard drives) my Seagate 320GB SATA, data drive only, is detected by the bios and idicates "SMART test capable and status bad" and I have to press f1 for the computer to boot to windows. I ran the seatools in windows and I got the following results....

With Core Temp the temperatures are reading lower than Asus Probe. Core #0 is 48c and core #1 is 46c while asus probe shows 51c. That is with dvd shrink running.
No overclocking. Stock heat sink. Asus pc probe for temp reading. Thermaltake tsunami case with front and rear 120mm fans with one side 80mm fan. Enermax liberty 500w power supply. I have been reading that others using stock heat sinks are getting about the same temps on initial install...
Just reading through my new P5B Deluxe manual and it does not indicate in what slots to place your ram memory for dual channel mode. Got 2 1GB ram sticks, matching pairs. In the past (asus, abit etc) the manual indicates to run in dual channel mode the sticks are to be place in the bays with...
