What's your 8800GTX Idle Temp?

allies; sorry to get you confused....I do not own a LIAN LI V1100 PLUS, I build high end systems for people.....and that case was the one I used in my latest build. In fact it's the "defacto" case I use although clients can select others. The CPU cooler that I used is the Intel stock cooler...

QX6700 - possible bottleneck for 8800GTX SLI?

Your default Ram speed is 1066Mhz (533 Mhz x 2 = PC8500), not 1200 Mhz, that would be PC9600 memory. Formula: Say PC8500 memory: 8500/8 = 1066 Mhz DDR2, 1066/2= 533 Mhz actual speed Yours is running at 533 Mhz by default, not 600 Mhz. So, yes, you could set your FSB to 400-450 Mhz...

In your case, memory should be 300, but I see no point not to set it to work at 600. The higher the better if your FSB can't go higher. Your Ram is very expensive PC8500, that's a Ram speed of 533Mhz....if you could set your FSB speed to 533 Mhz you'd be running in 1:1 mode. Otherwise, you'll...

What's your 8800GTX Idle Temp?

In my case, I used a Lian Li v1100 Plus, which has a 120mm fan (located over the cards) sucking air (exhaust fan, not pushing air to the cards) out of the case. That fan takes all the heat out of the case, specially the heat generated by the cards.

High pitch whine coming from the 8800 GTX

No loud high pitch whine coming from this ASUS 8800GTX....(Building a custom system for a client) In fact it's as silent as a baby sleeping.... This card produces less noise (in 3d mode) than an Intel QX6700 stock cooler at 50% speed. Simply amazing!! So I guess it's not a general...

Get some GEIL Value series DDR2 800....nice ram, overclockable, and very cheap. Yes, you'll be able to use DDR2 667 on AM2 boards.

8800 GTS vs 8800 GTX comparison

I agree. An overcloked 8800GTS matches (1:1) GTX performance at 1680x1050. To be honest, you don't need more than a 8800GTS 320Mb to play at a maximum resolution of 1680x1050....for 1920x1200....you'll need a GTX however. In 2 weeks time I'll get a GTS 320Mb...ready to play Company of Heroes.
