x1950 pro

my 1950pro 256MB plays crysis on medium settings @ 1152x864 at playable framerates 40-60 outdoors, 60 plus indoors. on High settings @ 1024x768 outdoors is 18fps to 25, and indoors 30 to 35 fps, not very playable. Rest of my rig: E6600 Asrock 775dual-vsta 2 gig kingston DDR2 x1950pro...

Option 1 should give the best performance in just about every program. I think promise makes a pci SATA2 controller, but I would think that it would bottleneck on the pci bus, so you would probly get the same performance just running SATA150 that the mobo supports. Try a PCI-E x1...

sry you are SOL past about 233FSB with DDR1 it sets divider 4:3. This motherboard cant run DDR1 at 1:1 ration at high FSB. If you set it to DDR400, and tighten the timings the performance will be almost identical to running DDR2 at 533mhz.

Saarland University Professor says 8800GTX might actually Have 160 stream processors!!!!

How about their recent drivers that enabled "Transparency anti-aliasing" on Geforce 6 series cards, a feature thought to only be supported on the 7 series. I wouldn't think they would do it to hide performance for later, but if they were worried about the silicon yield they may have added...

Something interesting I noticed about the new batches of C2Ds

When I oc my ram too much (or even just wrong timings or voltages) I get stop errors in SP2004, and error messages in programs. When I oc my cpu too much I get system crashes/random reboots, with SP2004, and my games.

Is intel underclocking it's CPUs so they can release higher clock models in the future without any difficulty?

the power consumption point hit the nail on the head. With the netburst architecture they got so much negative publicity about power consumption and over heating that they made this a priority

The ones with the standard one slot cooling solution get loud. pick one with the acellero or the gigabyte version with the zalman cooler

I've got 2 1gb sticks of (kvr667d2n2/1g) run in dual channel. I'm running 320FSB, using the 533 divider (this one performs better than the 667 divider) so 640Mhz at timings 4-4-4-15 2T

High load temp on e6600 + HSF?

That's maybe 6C higher temps than my e6600 on the same board. You should be fine. Don't lap the processor, the couple degree decrease you might get is not worth voiding your warranty on a $316 processor.

If the PSU is overloaded, then yes it would most likely reboot not freeze. But an insuffiecient powersupply can also cause stability issues. What is probably happening is the added load from the gpu is causing the voltage on the 12 volt rails to droop. This will negatively affect the...
