People with 24 inch to 30 inch lcd pc monitors

I was an hour away from ordering NEC's 2690... Then I bumped into this new name: Anybody heard of or have an opinion of Planar's PX2611W, a new 26" display (from PLANAR, a company that's been in the display business for years now) that uses the same S-IPS (or is it H-IPS?) panel as NEC 2690...

I'm ordering the NEC 2690 basic model. Don't feel like adding an extra $300 for the calibration system bundled. But what are the best options for calibration options out there that I can purchase (for less than $300 obviously...)... I'm totaly ignorant in the field of calibration, mind you...

So now, after doing a bit more "soul searching" I'm wondering why not purchase NEC's 2690WUXi, instead of their 2490WUXi... The difference in price is roughly $100.... But I'm wondering, how come both have THE SAME RESOLUTION (1920x1200).... Wouldn't you expect a larger size monitor to have...

Still indecisive on deciding which 24" LCD to decide on (color accuracy and sharpness are my main issues, as a graphic designer)... I was here asking questions couple weeks ago, and from what I read here -- am WAITING for new products to show up in the next couple months, or older ones to drop...

Let me check if I got it right: If the NEC 2490 we were discussing DOES HAVE LED BACKLIGHT (as mentioned here), and an S-IPS panel -- all for about $1,400 --- wouldn't it be the one and only obvious choice for a graphic designer or a photographer?

I was also a bit surprised, and was responding to what xtknight was posting last night: "If you want truly better performance then I would start waiting for the LCDs with LED backlights." -- "Start waiting" to me sounded as if it's not here yet... I don't need 30", and besides, I don't trust...

I was wondering about the CONTRAST issue too. The more expensive, professional LCD have a LOWER contrast ratio than the less expensive ones (800:1 vs. 1,000:1)... So there probably must be a good reason for it... Also, I learned that HIGHER BRIGHTNESS (400-500) -- is really meaningless, since...
