Yeah... sorry about my last post. I re-read it and it wasn't very clear. The Comcast guy came out and made adjustments and the stats I posted showed the dramatic improvement in SNR and download signal strength. Everything's been rock solid since last Saturday... no drops... no disconnects...
Comcast just came out to fix the lines. The guy was cool--never once came up here to bother me. Just did his thing down below and called me ... he told me that my lines were never "configured correctly."
Here's why...

I actually found a good FAQ for cable modems here.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Geez. I guess I clearly do have a problem then with the signal. I just wish Comcast had it in writing somewhere what their acceptable signal strength is. I called a few days ago and the CSR on the phone really didn't know what I was talking about ... the next...
You should be fine using 2.4GHz phones... as long as they are DSS-enabled (digital spread spectrum). Note that DSS may be labled something else depending on the manufacturer.
Also note that analgo 2.4GHz phones may or may not cause you grief... just the same, some Panasonic 2.4GHz DSS phones...
kurisu: Thanks for the reply. I"m curious about this topic now. I have actually had a stable connection over the past 2 days now (this is the longest I've gone without my cable modem losing the cable signal in the last 2 weeks). Over the past 2 weeks, my throughput has been completely...
EDIT: Still seem to be having throughput issues... maybe more bandwidth related via the Comcast network. I notice throughput drops significantly throughout the afternoon/evening and picks up again late and night to early morning... It is my understanding that Comcasts alots a 3Mb pipe to...
Well, I surfed and download various files last night using both the Linksys and Motorola cable modems. I think I'm going to keep the Linksys and return the Motorola.
Both seemed to utitlize the same bandwidth (throughput averaged ~2Mbps with very frequent sustained bursts over 3Mbps). Both...
Yeah. That was part of the reason for my concern. I've always read people saying how much the SB5100 was like the 2nd coming of Jesus as far as stability and throughput are concerned.
I actually did some searching off of Deja and found a handful of users that experience the same thing I...
UPDATE: Well, it turns out that my onboard LAN was bad... so was my Cat 5 cable.
I picked up a Linksys LNE100TX NIC and also the Linksys Cable Modem tonight. I'm running the Linksys modem to test my throughput. I was very disappointed to see everything slow... I noticed that the Linksys...
Praetor: Sure. I'd be willing to pass along these values.
I've messed around so much with both cable modems and have called Comcast a few times to just delete all the registered modem profiles from my account. Ever since I had them do that, even my RCA is showing significant speed...
Well, I give up. I'm returning the SB5100 yet again and using the "good" ole RCA DCM235.
To give you an idea of what I'm talking about as far as my problem goes, I have provided links:
1.) RCA DCM235 cable modem downloa...west version of WinAmp
2.) Motorola SB5100 cable modem...
