Hi - Been fighting to find the driver for the onboard sound in this machine. The disks Dell supplied apparently don't have the proper driver. Yamaha XG 64V Wavetable Sound. Can anyone help me out on this one? MS

Looking to install Linux from hard disk

You guys should make an effort to be a little bit more helpful... You might read up on Cgywin or such linux distros as Zip Slack. If you have a FAT or FAT32 partitioned drive then I believe it is possible to run one such. (Cgywin provides Unix functionallity in a windows.exe format.. It is not...

I would definetly not be opposed to OC. I would go software before hardware because I have never done a harware OC before. Quiet is better. I might use this machine for music production. I could shave off the monitor and the 120gb drive. (Have a few extras here) 120 86 209 101 82 35 10 298...

I will take both into consideration.. Looks to me that you can pick up a pretty damn good stock Falcon Northwest System for pretty cheap... Voodo seems a little bit more. The Talon very well might be a soloution to my current computer problem. MS

What do you think of MandrakeMove?

MandrakeMove is as you say 'user friendly'. It is much more so than Knoppix imo. I believe it is inteded primarily to 'demo' but I will use it because it is fast and has some decent programs (A real telnet is nice for my Cisco classes too). To me, Knoppix seems more bloated than MandrakeMove...
