X3200/Q6600. That Question We've All Heard Before.

Overclocking isn't only about the CPU, as it involves your memory, your motherboard, requires additional cooling (assuming you're going to be bumping your Vcore), and tons of patience. And yes, it does inherently involve risk in frying everything you've spent tons of money on. I'd strongly...

X3200/Q6600. That Question We've All Heard Before.

If you AREN'T going to overclock, I'd suggest going the dual 3.0 route. Very few games are utilizing multithreading even now, and as such, clock-speed can still be king. I'm not saying they won't... but even when multithreading does start becoming the norm, I have a feeling that those 2 cores...

    Motherboard - Graphic Card Compatibility

No, sorry... I suggested using CPU-Z to see what sort of mainboard you had without having to open up the case. What sort of mainboard did cpu-z report you had?

MotherBoard Asus Chipset NForce 4 SLI

If I understand your question, you want to know which Asus motherboards use the Nforce 4 SLI chipset? As far as I remember, the orginal was the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe; after this came a slightly worse A8N-SLI (lacked firewire and dual lan, but don't quote me on that); a digital SLI switching...

    Motherboard - Graphic Card Compatibility

In general xoail, as long as you have a motherboard that has a PCI-Express slot at 16X, you shouldn't have any compatibility problems. But like Rottie said, it would help to know what sort of motherboard you have. xoail: Download CPU-Z. It can tell you the processor, motherboard type, and...

Get the most out of my dual core CPU

In what sort of applications are you not noticing any sort of speed difference TyKoN? Like RadiclDreamer said, if an app isn't multithreaded, you might not notice too much of a speed difference at all. Some apps may benefit a lot more from additional RAM, while not utilizing a second core at all...

What was the best orriginal Nforce based mobo ( Not Nforce2 )

I own an older A7N266, and I can testify that the generation of board wasn't really designed to be an overlocker. While I'm not at home right now and can't say with 100% certainty, I'm pretty sure it has absolutely 0 voltage options, poor stability, and tons of quirks. I also own an A7N8X-E...

    im really annoyed at this.

A temperature difference like this may be the result of unevenly applied thermal paste; you may try removing your heatsink and re-applying thermal paste, and lapping the heatsink if you haven't already. The rated 1066 FSB is due to the quad-pumped Intel architecture; the native FSB = 266...

    how dated is my CPU

Alas, I currently have the same board (the MSI). I'm running an Opty165 @ 2.4 with 2Gig's of RAM and I honestly couldn't be happier. Although I really only play Civ 4 and WoW...

    how dated is my CPU

I'd also assume you weren't running the 4Gigs of memory before, seeing as you upgraded from a 939?

    Question About Test Utilities

For Prime95, I would suggest running one instance for every core; for CPU testing with Prime95, I run the SmallFFT's tests. For general stability testing, I just run the default blended tests.

    overclocking and fail to boot

You can drop your multiplier down to 8X, and maintain the 400FSB, which would give you a 3.2GHz clockspeed (assuming you want to maintain the 1:1 ratio.) Maintaining a 1:1 ratio isn't really that necessary though; high FSB with high clockspeed are king

so i have a new dilemma

To chime in on the off topic stuff, I think you hit the nail on the head. SP2 probably enabled the other 363GB, but now leaves it in an unpartitioned state. You can look at the Disk Manager by going Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management, and looking at the Disk Management...

Uhm... If it floats your boat, System Shock 2!
