I totally have to agree, those OCZ RAM rebates on their lower end kits sometimes halve the price of the RAM. It makes it too irresistible to factor in the rebate into the price when deciding what kit to buy.

I wish they did away with rebates too. Since they are going to give money back to you, so why not just have it occur instantaneously at the time of purchase? I guess they are leveraging the fact that many people just give up on trying to get their money back. I haven't had much trouble...

Oldest CPU you are running now???

Celeron 400A Slot 1 undervolted to 1.6 V (default 2.0 V) with 256 MB of RAM running IPCOP off a 256 MB CF card. Typical CPU usage is ipcop is < 5 % and is rock solid as a NAT + firewall compared to the flaky off the shelf consumer router I used to have.

Where does Windows store fileshare passwords?

I'm probably shooting in the dark ;) but try going to Run and type in "control userpasswords2" under the advanced tab there should be a "Manage Passwords" as well.

Share Network Drive with Neighbors

Wouldn't that mean all the data would have travel over the Internet? Connecting directly the to wireless access point would mean the files are transferred locally on the LAN thus avoiding having to upload data over the Internet. (please correct me if i'm wrong about this). Edit: Just realized...

Where does Windows store fileshare passwords?

On workgroup computers in XP the network passwords are stored in Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Click the account to change -> In the "Related Tasks" sidebar click on "Manage my network passwords". I think it should be the same for computers connected on a domain.

Are CMOS Checksum Errors caused by incompatible memory?

What kind of motherboard are you using? What kind of RAM is it? I think when ASUS says that their RAM doesn't work with their boards it is only because it's not on the Hardware Qualification List on their site. RAM is pretty standard (standardized by JEDEC) so in general it "just works"...

Back Up software that came with Vista (keeps failing)

One little thing about using NTbackup is that is doesn't seem to schedule jobs properly with Vista. So if you are using automated backups, then you have to manually schedule the job through Task Scheduler using NTBackup's command line options. NTBackup and Vista Task Scheduler
