Hi noushy,
Those are some nice results. It shows that broly8877 must have made a typo or done something incorrectly when running the test on his system.
On my CS2 system, with the Pentium D @ 3 GHz, it runs in 48 seconds. I went to tried it out with only one of my cores active for...
I'm glad you brought this up. In fact, when I saw your original thread (which I've just posted in) it brought me to recall this benchmark which I thought may give some insight to the usefulness of dual-core processing for Photoshop.
Your X2 scores will definitely improve upon the current...
Hi Avi85,
Photoshop DEFINITELY takes advantage of a second core. Linked up to the next two links, the benchmarks show that it does make a difference, especially when applying filters and such effects.

Hi Guys,
To continue from a post from last year, I'd like to see how much faster these new Core 2 Duo chips are at performing the given Photoshop test.
Using Photoshop CS or CS2 (or PS 7)

after nearly 4 months, i finally have CS2. Two systems I tried it on:
Dell P4 - 2.8 GHz w/ 1GB RAM = 101 seconds
Dell Pentium D - 3.0GHz w/ 2GB RAM = 48 seconds
The 2.8GHz computer is a 533 MHz FSB cpu whereas the Dual core computer is a 800 MHz chip. I definitely like the scores...
ok, remotely connected to box, installed PS 7, and ran the test...
Dell GX620:
Pentium D - 820 (2.8 GHz) w/ 512mb ram
63 seconds
(not too bad compared to 3.6 ghz box i tested earlier)
ok, tested on another machine:
Dell P4 - 2 GHz w/ 256mb ram using PS 7
180 seconds (3 minutes flat)
(new Pentium D machine came in, will post back once that is tested...)
I appreciate the input so far. I know that one of the best indicators to answering my question would be to get a dual-core machine and try it out myself and see how it goes.
One scenario I have is where a client is using an old Compaq dual P3-600 machine running Windows 2000 Server. Its...
Hi guys,
How does a dual-core cpu compare against a true SMP dual-cpu system? Example would be a Pentium D 840 (or AMD X2 4200+) vs. 2x Pentium 4 - 2.8 GHz Xeon system? For the price, dual-core seems great. I am primarily interested in terms of the Windows lines of server operating systems...
i would do the one of the following to things:
a) try setting it up using the Windows Server 2003 driver for the SCSI Raid card
b) flash the bios to the megaraid version
good luck!
