I bought one to replace a 6tb download drive I filled on my PC, its a nice drive. I haven't checked the smart data, but its silent, and very low vibration. I'm giving serious thought to 6 more to fill my 12 slot nas in another bank of RAID6.
I don't know what or why, but dumping 5.3TB from the...
If I find something poking around for what I need I'll post it, but I have to stay focused on my own issues for the time being.
My suggestion would be to join that forum and ask some questions. FWIW near as I can tell the lenovo NAS are based on Debian 7.1

Tool lit looks like a good basic version everybody should have. Hobby Lobby is worth a visit just to see all the weird hobby stuff they carry.
Spread in quality is what amazes me, while the low end is crazy with 4k $200 screens, market is still active at $3k.
OTOH I watch the bulk of my media on a cell phone.
I still have a number of devices that alkaline work best in, used to bay a pack of diehard when Sears had a sale, lately pack of 16 or so from Harbor Freight for like $5.
Flashlights I use I am ok with Lion, but not the rest of the family. We all have Olight AAA for EDC.

IX2 jbod, about to remake both of mine using some of the cheap 6TB drives I have around.
Issues; you MUST be mindfull that the shipped with drives units have the OS on the drives, and can be quirky when you swap in new drives. The IX2 run hot, but doesn't seem to cause a problem, and transfer...
Just tested my ix2 with 2x3TB drives 235GB free out of 5.45TB, 5GB movie wrote at 40+MB/s all the way.
With the latest round of price drops, if I had any concern I would buy a spare. I have yet had any success putting Linux on any of them, a me thing mostly, too much a L novice, but still a...
If the NAS has a UPS that it uses and monitors you can use ram for a buffer, otherwise I'm not sure there is any benefit to more ram. These days a single SSD should keep up with any practical level of network traffic.
These NOS Lenovo NAS were small bus to enterprise grade for their time, 2014, with the specific unit I have originally selling for $6k bare. It came with 2 slots out of 4 of 4GB ECC in each, so I just bought two more of the same for a total of 16GB
Tons of old server memory getting pulled out...
RT deals on airfare show up from time to time, most of the cost for us has been hotel and dinning out, plus it won't get any easier or cheaper. Know what you want to see, and allow plenty of time to do it so you can have rest/rain days off and not miss anything.
I have two or three generic consumer level NAS units from that era that for no apparent reason lost access to all the data or just stopped working. With many options for older NAS units so cheap, the cost is for drives and 24/7 power.
Biggest weakness for all the older NAS, is dead support...
