What are you looking for this season?

Well, originally I decided to bypass the Samsung Note 7 preorder deal because I thought the price might drop by BF. But I guess that's no longer on the horizon, huh? So, I'll be happy if I can find an nVidia GTX 1080 for a somewhat decent price. I mean, I know I won't be finding them for $400...

SMOKING: NEC Closeout $145 refurbished EA274wmi

The free shipping code listed in the OP worked for me, so total price was $144.20. These don't come with much of a warranty, though. I think it is 90 days. So if mine lasts a year, I'll be happy. But I might get lucky and it will last longer. At this price, if it flakes out, I'll just throw it away.

i7-4790K v.s. i7-5820K

I was able to get some pretty screaming deals around the holidays, so the difference in cost between the 5820 I got and the 4790 I was considering was only about $280 for the chip, the MB, and the memory. Since I typically keep a build for 3 to 3 1/2 years, that's a difference of only a little...

HL-2270DW showing offline Windows 7

Whatever the problem is, I don't think it is your OS. I use the same thing on a wired Brother 2270DW and it works fine. Wish I could help you with your problem, but at least you can likely eliminate the OS as the culprit. Of course, there could be some settings *in* the OS that are mucking...

Fractal Design Define R5 Reviews

I did a build at Christmas time with a $69 (free shipping) R4. I thought about mounting my SSD on the back, behind the MB tray, but I couldn't imagine having to take the MB out just to take the screws out of the SSD if I need to replace it. That would be a nightmare, just to remove four screws...

Boot problem (can boot only once in 40 tries)

And if you are going to change SATA ports, do try using a different cable as others have suggested. I had a big problem a couple of years ago and was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. I didn't even consider the cable because I thought they were so simple that nothing could go wrong...

I agree with BonzaiDuck -- if your MB posts are at the end of the block, just move one of the wires to the middle hole on the connector and then plug it in, leaving the open hole hanging off the end. Doesn't matter which way you plug it in because polarity for the Power LED doesn't matter. If...

Hmmm... That is really weird. I should remember this because I just did a build a couple of weeks ago, but I thought the power LED was always two pins. Polarity doesn't matter on the power LED so you can plug the connector in either way. I thought this was universal -- I can't think of a build I...

GTX 970/980 owners thread

8 pin and 4 pin MB cpu power connectors

I also have an ASRock X99 board but it is the Extreme 4. Don't know if the OP's is similar, but if this is just a normal molex connector, you only have to use it if you are going to use more than one GPU in CF or SLI. That's what's in the manual, anyway.
