I guess seeing that drive mentioned several times during bootup was what made me think the RAID_SEL jumper setting of BIG was affecting how the drive was being handled. I'll be getting another 500GB drive as soon as one I like is back under $100, so I'll find out what happens then. Thanks...

What's the negative impact (if any) of installing a single SATA drive on SATA3 with the RAID_SEL jumpered to BIG? Once I did that, I noticed that drive being listed several times during bootup, and I'm concerned that BIG means that if I add another drive to maybe SATA4 they will be merged...

Update on case and cooler swap. The Thermaltake V1 isn't any easier to detach once attached, since the V-shape hinders access to the back-and-right post up against the case. It also doesn't help to leave the plastic cover on the heatsink then have to remove everything to get it out, but it...

Research into the apparent failure of my Arctic Freezer 7 Pro has led to the purchase of a Thermaltake V1 to replace it, and then tracking down how to get the 7 Pro repaired for backup use. It appears that the vendors of the heatsink are now responsible for warranty service, so I'm not sure...

That must be why the term 'unofficially' came up in my Google searches: with no switch, you'd have to overclock. Other current boards that say they will handle 1333Mhz must have some sort of official switch. Thanks...
