You can say what you like about this cause, but you won't find much ignorance in these protest groups. I think you would find that most of them have an advanced understanding of economics and history. I'm curious where your bias comes from. Certainly not from firsthand knowledge.

Power cycling the monitor doesn't help once it goes into powersave mode. I'm not sure about the POST state. I assumed since XP started to load it was past the point where the POST would affect anything. I am unsure though.

I've set my bios to stop on 'no errors' as opposed to 'all errors' or 'all, exc keyboard', etc... it still stops after it probes the processor. I have to hit the enter key to start the mem test.

Not sure when this started but I can't associate it with any change to the system settings in bios or otherwise. Along with the boot stopping after the cpu test/probe I also noticed that when I try to access bios the screen goes blank until I hit 'enter' and then it takes me to the bios screen...

According to the KR7A manual the board will accept registered ECC memory. I'm not trying to run registered and non-registered memory together if that is what you mean by cross-compatible.
What I just finished trying was plugging one stick of my old ram...
The board is an ABIT Kr7A and the manual SAYS it will accept ECC memory. I'm starting to suspect that I don't have the memory set to SPD in bios and so it isn't probing the new ram to config itself. I am going to boot with my old ram and reset bios to SPD...hoping that is all that is wrong...
Thanks, I hope to have time to t-shoot this problem tommorrow night. I guess I assumed the system would configure itself for whatever memory was plugged (barring total incompatibility), if it can set timings automatically why not sense whether ram is registered or not? Hmmm....guess I'll find...
