Adding a string to excel data. . .

I agree with the concat concensus. If you can't mess with the column structure, just do it on a seperate sheet, copy the results and use paste special, text only to put the new names in the proper column.

How to input S/PDIF?

The benefit of spdif is the sound quality is as good as the source where the older analog connections could have distortion from the sound card or other components. You need a quality set of digital computer speakers, or a home theater receiver for it to be of real value, imho. Most soundcards...

Started using on board sound, but no volume control panel

Try downloading the drivers from your motherboard manufacture instead of realtech directly. It may have to do with their implementation. That's my best guess :) Good luck...

X700 mobile vs Go 6600

ATI vs ATI AIW

For PVR you could also look at This from Futureshop, but it is 3/4 the cost of the AIW your looking at. And NCIX has This, but their site is damn slow tonight. Same card that Traire linked to (ATI hardware mpeg2 encoding) just different reseller. Note these do not work with ATI Multimedia Center...

Best bang for the buck laptop upgrade

Hmm 2 years more for 50% more money... think I'll risk the Samsung (which is 8M cache as well and 3 years waranty). That is almost enough for the other 512 :) Fbrdphreak, I read the article you linked (actualy before my post). It is a good read. If I could have found a similar article on 512...

Thanks all, good feedback as always :) Generally I'm getting the concensis is that the Hard Drive should improve performance more than another 512 stick of ram as most applications including games don't need more than 512 to keep from hitting the pagefile (thanks Ken90630 for reading my mind)...

Best bang for the buck laptop upgrade

I just wish I was in the US when buying this stuff. A 7200 drive is up over $300 and 512 memory is about $80. So you can see why I really would like some better info on the effect of each upgrade. One only has me not eating fast food for a month, the other has me eating KD for a month :)...

Quick question about laptop hard drive speeds

You may be best off starting with the needs for things like portability, battery life, screen size, game play before getting into hard drive speed. That can always be upgraded later, but the others may not be as easily changed without replacement. Just my opinion of course. The 7200 drives are...

I know if I was using a dual monitor setup, and if the resoluton of one monitor was less than the other, that the one with the smaller resolution would scroll. Not sure if that applies here. I also think that there is the option to read the resolution info from the monitor, which may cause...
