Why isn't ECC memory used more?

Obviously you won't ever get it but w/e - I tell you the missing part is the human element, and you give me a quote that contains nothing about that - why ? 1. Partial models of engines are far more complete and no they aren't done without knowing and accounting for the laws of physics...

Capitalism is a concept, and like all concepts the implementation will differ from the concept, that much is clear to everyone who understands both concepts :biggrin: (you know, concept and implementation). Such a simplistic approach to commercial interactions doesn't have any chance to work...

No . TRIM is an instruction sent by the os to the drive controller for OS-managed GC. Drive-managed GC doesn't require TRIM or support for TRIM even if it is quite clear that the controller must have understanding of the filesystem in order to decide which blocks are to be cleaned.

No sir, that is just wrong . consumer SLC drive raid >>>> this piece of crap. And yes SLC is competitive considering the awful price tag Intel demands. 100 times more write cycles IS NOT A LOT when you have 8.000 write cycles and a wear-leveling algorithm that guarantees it across the whole...

As i said , the drive sucks ^^ But still for a home-made box, considering how people like using Intel stuff only, running my own software RAID10 across these 4 Intel drives through a PCIe interface is an interesting option. Also wtf. trim command in 2012 ? do we really need that when garbage...

Capitalism is a concept that is not and cannot be implemented due to its simplistic approach of human behavior - that much is clear. However what happens currently is direct consequence of adopting the idea that every being searching for their own profit will result in a valid working system...

No. Intel drives for first and second gen WERE more reliable than the alternatives, including sandforce. However write amplification being lower w/ sandforce, they could be more reliable than Intel in particular conditions of intensive use. Third gen there's not even enough data to make any...

It is indeed a piece of crap, but it's the first Intel pciE SSD and as some only buy Intel, a very good product to sell. On the other hand, I believe the non-raid0 approach can be interesting, enabling you to make more sensible raid configurations w/ the ssds - rather than the usual 4x raid0 /...

Err . no . you wouldn't even remotely think about an x86 cpu, your ram wouldn't simply be ECC, etc. - and besides your server would be in a bunker underground with a much different radiation pattern. but w/e keep w/ random arguments. ECC is a feature. that's it, nothing more or less, no...

New CoolerMaster TPC 812 Heatsink/fan coming out now

Interested. but basically "VERTICAL VAPOR CHAMBERS" OF DOOMY DOOMY DOOM ! are just flat heatpipes. And no surprise here, a flat heatpipe is better than a round one (incredible .. like in every single laptop heatpipe system. whodathunk).

Washed Mobo and Video Card

Hopefully there will be much better solutions than the SA at that point in time ... a heatsink that kills so many RAM slots is more a pain than a solution imho -- The current trend of tower-rad needs to die sometime soon tbh.

I respectfully disagree ... if it means 50% for gpu / apu, it means 50% more for all games, which is still the one main reason a consumer would need performance from their pc.

True .. but still the hard part in Trinity was the naming .. the release should be doable w/ 3 months late bulldozer-type fail release schedule. Let's face it, replacing the athlon with bulldozer and the 6550d with the next ATI chip -- doesn't look like many ways to fail in there.

You seem to misunderstand one fundamental aspect of the market : Mostly everyone is not like you. People play on crappy consoles that are almost as powerful as the e350 Zacate. Not everyone finds it fun to spend 600+ bucks on a PC. The APU / SoC approach is leading all the handheld/tablet...
