"Temperature Range" "ramp rate" ASUS BIOS

I have an Asus Pundit booksize barebone system, which as two BIOS settings that I don't undertsand: Temperature Range and CPUFAN Ramp Rate. Temperature Range goes from 4 celsuis to 80 celsuis and CPUFAN Ramp Rate goes from 35 secs to 0.8 secs What do these mean? Will setting them change...

In your two-way encryption example, you are assuming that both parties know that their encryptions are "additive" in the sense that adding one encryption does not change the ability to reverse the other. This assumption needs to be "pre-shared" between the two parties.

Is it safe when surge protector says "line fault"

The PG&E tech pulled out the tinies plug I've seen. put it in and it outputs "open ground." Looks like I'm in a groundless building. F&*k the electrician that installed the whole thing. pardon my french.

Thx, guys. PG&E is coming out today to diagnose the problem. They mentioned that it may be too high or too low a volt. But I am inclined to believe that it's what you guys said, wrong polarity or no ground. If they don't see it on their end, I'll bug the hell out of the owner. My property...

Programming question for unix regular expression guru

I need some regular expression programming help. basically I want to be able to search all instances of word X occuring within 100 characters of word Y in a bunch of files. How do I form a regular expression that can do that? I'm using grep in linux. Thx,

I just read about Ubuntu, which offers automatic updates. Looks interesting... One question: Ubuntu doesn't offer kernel compilation. Does compiling cutomized kernel offer significant performance on an AMD athlon64? And what's the main difference bet. KDE and GNOME?
