are the IBM 120gxp's another bad hard drive form ibm?

It's hard to say one way or the other right now. It's obvious that the 75GXP's are crap (mine died a month ago) and the 60GXP's have a habit of failing as well, although not nearly as bad as the 75's. I bough a Maxtor D740X and it's awesome, very fast and very quiet. If you need a hard drive...

Woohoo! You were right guys, ZoneAlarm was the culprit. I uninstalled it and now everything's working fine. Thanks. :)

No firewall right now. The hard drive in my linux box died a while ago and I haven't replaced it yet so I've been using ZoneAlarm but I shut that down when these problems started.

This is the wierdest problem I've ever seen. Not one program on my computer will connect to the internet except IE. That's right, games, ICQ, Outlook, the dnet client, CuteFTP, I also can't ping anything through the command prompt. When using the command prompt it says: PING: transmit failed...

Laptops any good for PC games?

Would the faster CPU compensate for the low video memory? No it wouldn't. It doesn't matter how fast your CPU is, if your video card is a peice then it will always slow games down. Even the "older" GeForce2 Go would be pretty good for most games. A friend of mine just got a notebook with a...

I like the Abit AT7 personally. I know it's expensive but it comes with everything but the kitchen sink. And in a year or two you'll probably begin to see many more firewire and USB 2.0 devices out there. Unless you're using anything that needs PS/2, serial, or parallel ports this board is...

Where to buy this case in Ontario?

That looks an awfull lot like an Antec SX1200 series case. I don't know anywhere in Ontario but you can order it online from NCIX in Vancouver.

BIOS is not ACPI compatible

Last night I got a BSOD saying that my BIOS wasn't fully ACPI compatible. I hit the reset button and I got the same blue screen every time it tried to boot into windows. My motherboard is an ASUS A7V and I'm using BIOS 1010. I also tried 1009 and 1007 and I got the same problem. I also tried...
