    EVGA Superclocked or no?

Anybody else with any opinions before I switch my upgrade product? Am I going to regret it?

    EVGA Superclocked or no?

I got an EVGA 7800GTX a few weeks ago and intend to use their stepup program to get a 7900GTX. I don't know whether to pick the superclocked version or not. I really want a super-fast video card that I can run games like FEAR on at high settings with great performance. So the Superclocked is...

    Just built my first PC..

Well it sounds like it's working fine then. Put some software on it and see what happens - I betcha it'll boot to the OS ---- if there's an OS on it. ;-)

    Just built my first PC..

Okay, first off, this is probably the least of your worries, but I think the option to turn off the full-screen thing is in the "Boot" submenu of BIOS, under "Boot Settings" or something like that - there's something called "Enable Full-Screen Logo" or something like that and you just need to...

    Old RAM question

Yeah, they don't look any different to me, either. But it's weird, isn't it? They're both the exact same price, so it's not like they're trying to trick people out of a few more bucks or something. And this isn't the only retailer where I've seen this, either. Soviet, I'm with you on PC133...

Is it possible to replace a laptop screen?

It's definitely possible and I don't think it'll be as expensive as others may make it sound. I have an old laptop with a bad screen and I can get it replaced for $300 by a computer repair shop. I'm sure that doing it yourself is cheaper. However, I hear that it can be tricky to do by...

    RAM Testing

So it turns out it was the RAM, but I didn't need to run the diagnostic to figure it out. While trying to install SP1, the system crashed, and kept rebooting immediately on entering Windows. I pulled one of the two memory sticks and the system wouldn't boot at all. I took that one out and put...

    Old RAM question

I've got this old Asus A7V133 that I'm trying to rehab and I discovered that one of the RAM chips is bad, leaving me with only 128 MB of working PC133 RAM. Obviously if I want to get this working I need more. Searching for RAM, I see that there is one type of RAM that is used for Asus...

    RAM Testing

Excellent - I saw this when I Googled for RAM tests, but wasn't sure it was what I wanted. I'll give it a try.

    RAM Testing

The short version: I need a good bit of freeware that will let me check a stick of RAM to see if it's causing some errors. The long version: I'm trying to get my old crappy computer up and running for the kids. One day it just started rebooting every time WinXP tried to start up...

    Ready to Buy and Build

I like that Fortron Power Supply a lot. I agree with the chorus of others here - invest in 2 GB of RAM and a fast video card, and spend what's left of your budget on everything else. Those two parts are important when running Windows and playing games.

    System Critique - Budget

I'm helping put parts together for a friend for a new computer. He's running some 5-year-old crappy computer and wants to play some hot new games, like Civ 4. :) He doesn't like FPS's, so the requirements can be fairly low. But he's a big role-player, and I imagine he might like to give...

    $25 PSU budget

dwcal, I am with you, man! There's a lot of snobbery on this site - power supplies are just one example, but it seems to be (lately) the thing that people enjoy going on about the most. I've put together many PCs, and sure, I've had a power supply or two go out, but it never blew up the rest...

    $25 PSU budget

JediYoda - the picture of the sticker on Newegg shows that the 12V rail is rated at 25A. I don't know what the reviewer you quoted is seeing on his PSU, but it appears that the label on the one on Newegg gives a 25A rating for the 12V rail. Any idea why this discrepancy is there? As for...

    $25 PSU budget

While I understand everyone's opinions concerning the power supply, I also understand the mindset of someone who doesn't want to spend extra money on a power supply. Some people just don't find them sexy. Personally, I'd go with the Logisys. It has 550W, and 25A on the 12V rail, which should...
