I got this from techbargains. Buy.com has the New Media LIVEWIRE I-PORT for $29.99 after $10 mail-in rebate. Sounds like a good deal, but I've never heard of the company. Anyone wanna vouch for this product?

This is a bad deal. All Flooz deals is suck. Don't believe me? Buy something with flooz and then try to return it. Hassles like you wouldn't believe. And some of their stores...iGadget.com anyone? I swear to god that it's a one-man outlet operating out of the owner's mom's basement...
Yes, I'm sure the HD is refurbished. Even the label says "refurbished 10gig HD" (or something to that effect. But it's nice and quiet (and uh, almost 20 gig), so I'm keeping it. Incidentally, isn't it kind of a scam to say something is 10 gig when it's really only 9.2 gig or so...
I kinda agree with peeps, to an extent. If your computer is totally flawless, then just making up a 'script' to get $$ back could pose some ethical problems. However, if your keyboard is loose, the hard drive sounds like an engine, windows ME constantly freezes, and you have a dead red pixel...
Me: Hi, my laptop's hard drive is really loud, I'd like a replacement.
Dell CSR: Sure, no problem.
Me: Can I get a different model HD?
Dell: No, sorry. We only use one model.
Me: Oh, the fujitsu huh?
Dell: No, IBM Travelstar.
Me: (to myself--huh? I thought they gave me a fujitsu) OK...
johnmiles, you just have to be persistent. They gave me the runaround too, but finally I got confirmation. Later on, when they screwed something else up, I got them to issue my rebate through a credit to my credit card, which I've already received. If you get a CSR that doesn't give you the...
I'm starting to hear a loud noise from my laptop. I never noticed it before, but now I can't help but notice it and it's irritating me to death. Now I'm thinking it's the hard drive, but I'm not sure. What can I do to reduce this noise?
I never noticed this before, but today the noise that comes from my i4000 seems annoyingly loud. Is this normal? I don't know if it's the fan or the cpu, but it sounds like a refrigerator. Maybe it's just my imagination? Is this standard for laptops?
Ab,
Call Customer Support and request that they send you an email confirming that you are entitled to the 20% discount. If you don't get paid in 8 weeks, call them back with your proof.
If ME is fine for you, and you're nervous about installing Win2k, maybe you should stick with it? That...
huh? What happened to my message? Anyways, to the point: will I have trouble installing Diablo 2 and The Sims on Win2k? If so, is there anything that I can do to fix it?
I'm getting the W2k OS upgrade as well. I know that it isn't meant for gaming, but I would like to put in some non-intensive games such as Diablo 2 or the Sims on my i4000. Am I going to have problems installing these games? If so, what can I do to fix them?
