Help install XP on single SATA drive on NF8-V2 MB

I'm trying to install Win XP Pro with Service Pack 2. All I have connected are one DVD-Rom drive and one Seagate SATA drive. The installer starts up fine, recognizes the drive and starts copying files and then hangs. It hangs at different places (like 8%, 30%, 40% complete) ad different times...
