Folks living in that part of Oregon having the river, town, bay, and original tribe of Tillamook Indians by the same name seem to pronounce it na-HAY-lem (rhymes with Salem).

Why people buy decent SLRs and crappy lenses

Let's see, my K20D has ~ 44,000 pixels/mm2, my Panasonic Lumix FZ50 (for example, I'm sure it can be topped) has about 265,000 / mm2 (had to double check the math on that, damn those sensors are small). The lens on the Lumix is decent, but probably a fair step shy of a basic SLR 'kit' lens, yet...

Anyone else considering upgrading from q6600?

Anything out there yet indicating power? Plenty of tests showing 9300 OC-Loaded power consumption being well below 6600, but always with the caveat that it has less cache. I tend to run jobs that load-up the computer for long periods of time, and if the 9450 ends-up burning 50W less power then...

What is your VID on coretemp on Q6600 G0 stepping only

I have 1.225 and can also run stable (24hr Prime95) 333x9 at that voltage. Haven't got around to trying anything higher yet, that's sufficient to make me feel good about getting the $200 Q6600 instead of waiting for a $350+ Q9450.

Just a random thought: do they trade you to the same -A(x) version? If it is your intent to ultimately get a next-gen card, does it make any difference if the card you get now is -A3 (~$30 more for 'free' crysis) and then trade up to -AR (no bundle) or some other? The cost of the game then...

Nvidia confirms PhysX hardware dies

I wonder how this will affect benchmarking. It seems like the drivers would probably cap frame rates and use the freed resources to improve physics detail. So faster cards may have similar frame rates but better physics calculations - so how will that be measured? We could have adaptive image...

Best Wii games for workouts (besides the sports one that comes w/ the wii of course)?

Just as a counterpoint, any activity that raises your heart and respiration rate significantly for 20-30 minutes a few times a week can be a healthy workout, even if it is primarily waving your arms around. If you enjoy it and keep it up, it's better than a treadmill you get tired of and stop...
