FWIW, WC seems intimidating but it is not. Personally, I would not WC thinking you will magically overclock alot more.
WC will get better temps and if setup correctly can be quieter. I loved the idea and the challenge.
WC takes a bit of planning where air cooling does not.
You have to think...
Jeez, the prices is very fair for OCing warranty. I could not rma a chip I killed, seems very wrong.
Now, I spend $20 and I cover my OCing. Kudos, to Intel for a very fair price and policy.
Sky pix and I are using a SSD with sandforce controller and the C3 and C6 need to be disabled to avoid BSOD. intel SSD don't seem to suffer from this issue.
I agree I only use Intel SaTa 6g ports. Marvel seem to be poor controller. It was on badaxe2 as well.
You really need to leave C3 and C6 off for the SSD. I know some are mad about this but who cares you need a stable setup. I never enabled them and I have never had BSOD( except trying to hit 4.5 ghz:) ).
I would rather have the showed of the sand force controller and stability. My CPU...

I love my Corsair Force GT 120 gb SSD and based on price with or without the rebate, it was too good to pass up.
I know Intel is " better" but price is absurd.
All SSD are way over priced, but they are...
Thx. There are alot more settings to tinker with.
Yes i throttle to 1.6ghz with vcore around .98- 1.1v.
I will o/c a bit. 3.7-4ghz sounds nice. I would think the SB chips should easily do 20% o/c at low vcore.
Your help has been excellent. Quick follow-up from another thread you posted...
Option rom message has to do with error messages for 3rd party something. if you set to force, it will give the error message and cause a reboot.
keep current means it will post a message only if the 3rd party product creates a message.
I am not sure what boot products need this but IMHO it is...
Thx.
My last build was 4yrs ago, so these new mobos are sweet. I had no idea you can keep speedstep and still overclock. Wow, so it overclocks only when needed but will have a cpu idle speed much lower?
All I know is on my mobo when I set XMP(i assumed it was a memory change only), I found...
I just installed everything and booted with Win 7 disc. I installed to the Corsair 120gb Force Gt drive on the intel 6g port.
Only bios changes were:
turning off the marvel ports, disabled C3 and C6, set option rom messages (boot menu) to keep current.
I turned off on board sound, FireWire as...
When i set the memory to XMP in the bios. I am offerred one profile which i enable. I changed no other settings from default. The cpu vcore was raised and the cpu speed was set to 3700.
I was reading that XMP profiles can alter cpu settings, but i could not find anything that confirmed what...
