Like I say, I don't think there is virus/malware on the DVD. Surely there would need to be more than images for that...

Crackling sound after DVD

Hello, I have a friend that said their computer developed a "crackling" sound (heard from the speaker, and not the computer itself) ever since using a DVD - this DVD only had images and such. Weird thing is, when passing the DVD onto another friend, they developed the same symptoms. I haven't...

Thanks Crono, nice summary. I wouldn't be interested playing games on it, but maybe editing images sometime in the future, hopefully that would hold okay. Also, would you not prefer the $999 version... or would you not need the extra storage space?

Picking a MicroATX motherboard

Thanks. Why would the sniper only have 2 USB3 ports, especially if it is the more recent board? Had a look on newegg (maybe not looking the right places), but there werent many mATX cases with front USB3 ports?

Memory stick bent... any advice?

Unfortunately I have never used a soldering iron since high school, don't own one in the house, nor would I know where to solder. Going to err on the side of caution and stay away from it myself :-) However if it can be done that way, then possibly a computer repair shop should be able to...

If the connections are broke, surely they can be resoldered? Not by me personally, but possibly a repair shop... just thinking out loud.

Sorry, I remember this place for asking "pics?" on anything. Just assumed it was another joke. My mistake. However, no photos of the damage, it is only a slight bend as it is still even to be inserted into the port. The make is Busby lite 8gb, and model buslpd0080r.

The USB memory stick was bent in the port, the light comes on when inserted but the computer cannot recognise it... any advise if the information on it can be saved?

Aye, he was a student when he got it though. And it couldn't have been the 30 day trial (or any trial) as he was using it for a year until it randomly said about the internet connection problems, therefore unable to use Word etc. Never heard of Word needing an internet connection before, so must...
