Question Crystal Disk Info - Accurate?

Percentage used = 6Ah = 106%. I don't think this is accurate. The BC501 doesn't have a set TBW as far as I know, but ~20TB of host writes even with high write amplification isn't close to that flash's endurance. Which makes sense as available spare is still 64h = 100%.

Question How to query Nvme Host Memory Buffer stats?

Some of the early HMB drives were wonky and there are other outliers. The WD SN500, for example, comes with HMB disabled, but then it appears in the latter SN550. You can test the SN550 both ways to see it doesn't make much difference on that line of drives in everyday use. Newer DRAM-less NVMe...

There's tools to find this. VLO's nvme-hmb on Windows, nvme-cli (nvme get-feature) on Linux. Also can be recorded (and modified) in Windows. Limit on HMB size depends on the drive, by NVMe spec with normal granularity it's up to about 1GB:1TB. As per the article it's normally 64MB or less. You...

FIO. Tom's Hardware uses IOMeter. CrystalDiskMark is based on Microsoft's DiskSpd which you can get and run through a CLI. I wouldn't trust HD Tune or AIDA64, myself.

Question SK hynix Platinum P41 2TB SSD Write speed dropped by half

Looks like it's stuck in TLC. It's not using the SLC cache for writes. Happens sometimes. Usually I recommend a wipe (sanitize or "secure erase" in some places) to restore operation.

Yeah that sounds like a serious issue...although I've heard "it's not compatible" from many support people on laptops. So that's unfortunate. I'm not aware of people downgrading firmware on that controller, it's not something that's done terribly often, not to say it's impossible but I wouldn't...

There were WHEA errors with NVMe drives after X570 came out, actually, although not as serious as that. It's rare to get disk errors on SSDs actually...that sounds like a hardware issue, although cannot be sure it's the drive alone without trying a different one.
