Fair enough, and I suppose that's a better way to go if the parents have any influence on the decision (they would rather have him driving a newer car rather than an older one). I'd have something more on the beater end of the scale at that age, although it doesn't have to be a soulless econobox!

I'm a recent college grad (graduated last year). I didn't have a car on campus and didn't really ever need one at all (I commuted by train 5 days a week), so my situation isn't the same as yours. Still, I agree with the others - hold off on getting something expensive until you can afford it...

Once you pair the phone, you don't really need the button - it has the previous/next track buttons and the play/pause button (which doubles as the button to activate voice commands for dialing phone numbers). So no, if you were to control the music from your phone, you wouldn't need it...

Logitech G27 black friday deals?

Not long after posting that, I found that Amazon Warehouse Deals was selling the DFGT for just over $100, so I've got one of those on the way (thank you Prime). As long as it works properly, it should be perfect for my use. Thanks for the suggestion.
