yeah i thought it was completely ridiculous that they don't have a way to manually select the drive through the program itself..it just has a button to automatically find it. i've installed it on a friend's computer (with the default c:) and it works fine.
i'll try that subst thing when i get...
My original hard drive got messed up so i had to get a new one and install windows again. this time, it installed as I: and not C:. I have a program that I installed an add-on for and it doesn't seem to want to work and I think it's because it's not in the C: drive since, for whatever reason...
I'd be ok with that mainly cause I haven't been playing many PC games lately. Just good to know that it's just the video card that was causing the problem. thanks for the help
i put it in the toaster oven at a little over 350 for about 10 minutes and i am able to play games now. apparently it worked. woohoooo. wonder how long it will last
would you suggest manually soldering each contact? i really don't mind taking the time to do that as i'm currently unemployed and can't afford to buy a new graphics card
or i'll just go to a thrift store and buy some piece of trash toaster oven since my soldering iron is also trash XD
i haven't been able to play games or run a few other programs for a while now on my pc, and i'm not sure if it's the graphics card or what. it started when i was playing world of warcrack and it just shut down. i haven't been able to play a game since that. i can open them, and it might get...
ok i'll try to figure out the temp thing when i get a chance. i googled it and looks like asus should have some kind of program built in to check that. i used to have it either on my lap or the bed sometimes, but haven't been doing that for a while for the overheating reason.
oh snap. automatic updates just came up and said time to restart the computer. thank you to everyone for the input. ended up going with Dial-A-Fix. tried the microsoft tool on their website and it failed. the other options of manually editing the registry didn't work cause my computer is kind of...
recently my laptop has just starting powering down after playing world of warcraft for a while. sometimes takes 30 minutes and sometimes over an hour. the laptop is a little over a year old and haven't had this problem before. is this an issue with the graphics card or just the cpu overheating...
windows update is turned off and windows security center is trying to get me to turn it on. when i click the button that says "turn on automatic updates" it says the security center cannot change the settings and that i should go into the control panel and do it myself. i've tried that and it...
I was having some problems with my hard drive so I just decided to do a new install of windows 7 instead of choosing the upgrade option. It had windows vista before. I'm pretty sure the model number is Satellite A300-ST4505... Anyway, it is really slow right now and pretty much of no use. Could...
update:
I tried opening another program and it froze again..this time i got a blue screen and then the computer shut down. somehow i feel the graphics card is fine because it can still run a 3D modeling program without any noticeable difference from before.
I got an error last night while I was playing world of warcraft and it closed. I tried to open it again but it just froze when it got to the login screen. I got some kind of error with "nv4_disp"...i ignored it the first time and just restarted but it was still messed up. I removed the video...
i went to the file that you said for the first suggestion, and there are about 50 folders in it. does that sound normal? i was expecting maybe 1 or 2 extra. also, i didn't have either of the ones you have on your computer. neither "DllNXOptions" or "iexplore.exe".
so i skipped and went to the...
