FTP Server Issues

Yes, it is a DSL connection using PPoE. Im not sure what else to say, really. The computer is connected directly into an older Netopia Cayman 3000 DSL Modem / 4 port router. All IPs are static, and configured properly. Even LAN computers cannot download if both are connected to the DSL modem...

im not sure about XP(since ive never used the bloody bastard), but i know in win2k if you dont have boot sector virus protection disabled in your bios you wont be able to complete an install either. *edit* load the XP Pro Installation at that selection screen. thats what happens when you run...

Best overall 939 nForce4 based SLI mobo?

from what ive read the on-board sound is pretty good on the a8n32. but yea, there is no way youre going to get two PCI cards in there with SLI'd GTX's. The dual x16 SLI will probably give you a decent performance increase and the 8phase power supposedly fixed the voltage issues with X2's...

Good brand for GF 6600GT

i dont know about this particular card.. but ASUS, imo, is one of the best companies out there for almost any hardware they make. i have never had a problem with a single piece of equipment of theirs. this includes 10+ video cards and more than 40 motherboards, amongst other things. their prices...

General PC temperature

the 939 AMDs run cooler, sure. but he has an XP 3000+, not a 64. XP's ran notoriously hot. my 2200+ with an older thermaltake hs/fan with AS5 and a deskfan blowing on it runs at about 52C while playing CoD2 and the like. idle temp is around 47C. before i put the AS5 on it, and without taking off...

appears to have been discontinued. was thinking about this, looks like a good deal. Sony GDM-FW900 24" Trinitron Widescreen also, as for video cards. im going to wait until the 512mb GTX's come out to make a decision BUT... hypothetically.. would the fact that i will be using a high-res...

6800 + Call of Duty 2 = No good!

i have a geforce4 ti4200(the good asus version) and i run cod2 at 1024x768 no AA medium settings and its extremely playable. the smoke slows me down a bit, but its really only noticeable in multiplayer. soo... yea..i dont get it.. you should be doing fine. my rig is worse in other respects too...
