Do you have a tube of thermal grease (Arctic Silver, etc.) lying around? If so, you can always test the heatsink using the stock thermal pad, then turn it off after a couple of minutes. It's unlikely the stock pad would melt too much in that amount of time, and if it does, you can just clean it...

Why is breastfeeding frowned upon?

It's actually the law in Illinois (where I live) that employers provide time and a location for pumping. It also specifically says that a toilet stall is not considered an acceptable location.

I don't know what speed/size you're looking for, but it seems like the G.SKILL Eco series has something that at least looks like white (maybe more of an off-silver) heatspreaders and comes in a variety of sizes: NewEgg

Lost my Rx meds, now what?

That's why I don't understand people who throw out the bottles to their medications as soon as they finish it. If you keep them, at least you can transfer some of the pills out into one of the bottles if you ever need to travel, and they'll still be labeled correctly if anyone questions it...

Bad memory stick - what to do?

Why not just get an RMA and send it back to Crucial? The Ballistix line has a lifetime warranty, so all you have to do is go to their site and submit a warranty request, and once they receive and test the memory, they'll send you a new one. I've already done this once before with a Ballistix...

VIA VT1708S Sound

While I haven't seen any sort of performance hit from that chip, I just recently switched to a motherboard with that chip and I can say that, at least in my experience, the sound on it is pretty awful. I moved from an ultra-low-end Audigy SE card to the VT1708S, and the sound seems very tinny...

Things that you DON'T miss from "the good ol' days".

What I really don't miss is when everyone and their grandmother started discovering (and using) Frontpage almost simultaneously. More specifically, when it was the "in" thing to start using the marquee tag. Almost every page that you went to had at least 2 or 3 of those infernal scrolling text...

Lumping this guy in with liberals is like lumping any crazy far-right person in with conservatives. There's extremes on both sides, and as a liberal myself, I agree that this cop went over the line.
