The only good TV Wonder 550 card is the VE, IMO. It comes with the older software that includes, among other things, a simple TV program that works awesomely for playing console games through your computer's monitor. My TV Wonder Elite has the rebranded PowerCinema software, and while it works...
I just bought a X1900XT in August when I built my new computer. There's no reason for me to upgrade yet. But by the looks of it, ATI and nVidia are ready to go at it, which will be awesome for us consumers. My next upgrade should be a difficult yet enjoyable decision.
Just for your information, the CPU tests always run slowly, since they stress the CPU by making it do all the calculations that the CPU usually does. On 3DMark05, I get 2fps on the CPU tests, versus upwards of 300 on some of the standard tests.
Though you might have a problem with your fps...
ECC Ram is also slower, since it has to take the time to do those checksums. Just stcik with non-ECC, unbuffered RAM. Crucial is awesome, and people have been saying good things about Corsair, though I've never used them.
Forking out an extra $100 for Ballistix is all up to taste. Will you...
I got the ATI TV Wonder Elite, and it's awesome. Great image quality, and it came with like 5 cables to connect practically anything to it, which is a plus.
Go with HIS's IceQ3 X1900XT, or the X1950. My IceQ3 has an awesome cooler, I hardly ever notice the noise from it. No jet engine for me. :)
Mailman, when you get your board, post your OC attempts. I can't get past 285FSB for some reason. Might take another look at it this weekend.
For my ATI card, I had to install it them in VGA Mode (from the Windows boot menu) or else my computer would restart. Though I think that was somewhat chipset or mobo related.
So try safe mode and vga mode to install your drivers.
With the FanMate2 at full power, the Zalman keeps my AM2 rig at 40C idle. Haven't overclocked yet, and I'm too lazy to download a program to get full load temps.
First off, it's probably better to use smaller capacity drives for RAID. A lot of people use two 74GB Raptors, for instance. RAID should be simple enough to setup - Windows Setup should ask you to press F6 if you have third party RAID drivers, which your motherboard should provide (or download...
Get Crucial. I know for a fact that the K9A Platinum goes well with Crucial. I had to run one stick initially, but then it warmed up to both beautifully.
