Backup strategy - RAID 1 vs. RAID 5

I think I've decided on some sort of NAS device. The question is should I "roll my own" or buy a ReadyNAS. One thought is to go with a cheap Dell 9100 and add a couple SATA drives, without even using RAID. I may add RAID to my primary computer, on the main working drive. As for backup, is...

My "off drive" system would be a lightly used computer with the RAID 1 mirror, mapped as a network drive. I'm assuming whatever virus hits my main computer will not have time to make it to the backup computer before I discover a problem. What backup methods do you all use?

Does anyone know which revision of the Deluxe series I need for a mobile XP 2500+? I am wondering if I can get away with using the non-Ultra 400FSB version, since the mobile barton only runs at 266FSB anyway. Thanks.

Joony, It looks like the legend does not have a real compass. It is just a software compass. The "Vista" version has the real compass and altimeter built in. The benefit of a real compass is that you don't have to be moving for the thing to update your vector. -oktane

It fits fine in my Asus A7N8x Deluxe, but the removal panel does not say put on its own. The motherboard needs to be screwed in place for it to hold. Not a big deal at all, I am happy with the case. The best part is it is so light. Makes for a nice extra system.
