Discussion Ryzen 9 3900X and 3950X supply issues - long term problem?

Maybe binning for top chiplets is an issue? I'm sure there are a bunch of factors, but mostly there just hasn't been enough time for any increased production to hit retail, unless the volume crunch hit TSMC a few months ago.

Decent chance AMD is behind a good chunk of that increase. If Ryzen 3000 really is selling at 3.5 times their projections, I bet they placed a big ol' chiplet order within a week or two of launch.

    Speculation: Ryzen 3000 series

Sure! Gordon asked if there would be any performance difference between 1- and 2-CPU chiplet designs (3600x and 3900x, say). As IEC already posted, because the IMC is on the IO die, all CCX's have the same memory latency and cache access latency.

Robert Hallock on memory latency- "From the perspective of the operating system, these are essentially monolithic designs"

i dont overlock anymore because it outdated

12/16 cores in the same TDP could mean that clocks are limited by heat instead of whatever it is that limits Zen 1/1+, so maybe they have more headroom once the thermal limit is removed. OTOH, they only got to ~5.3ghz on LN2, so maybe not.

Subreddit subscriber counts: r/intel: 52,948 r/nvidia: 176,171 r/amd: 233,031 So, among tech enthusiasts on Reddit, r/AMD has more followers than Intel and Nvidia *combined*. Obviously that isn't really representative of anything other than Reddit, but nobody claimed otherwise. Certain...

Speculation: i9-9900K is Intel's last hurrah in gaming

Well, the problem is that I took issue with the sarcastic dismissal of using currently available info to estimate performance. I probably shouldn't care, but it's a lazy way to dismiss an argument, and I'd rather grant that the people I'm conversing with have basic common sense than assume...

Speculation: i9-9900K is Intel's last hurrah in gaming

 Fine, I'll be more specific: you pretend that the people you're arguing with are unable to make allowances for a company promoting it's own products. It's still a poor assumption, and we still have enough info to estimate performance for Zen2 chips.

Speculation: i9-9900K is Intel's last hurrah in gaming

No, you're pretending that everybody else here doesn't also understand that AMD is showing their products in their best light at a product launch. Zen2 may not be faster than every Intel chip in every scenario. Wait for benchmarks if you have specific requirements. But, unless AMD dreamed up...

Could the reason for introducing "F" CPUs from Intel, be because they want to create a market perception of value for the iGPU, before they release Xe

Obviously supply and demand has an effect on pricing, but both CPUs are in stock, so there's no difference from the consumer perspective here. Why are people willing to spend an extra 10% for an inferior product? Some kind of weird rebate scheme from Intel? Do they just hate having money...

Are Intel getting Worried? - 9900KS

A canned benchmark is a known, standardized test, that's generally a pretty good indicator of how a game will perform. OF COURSE there are exceptions, but because we have a pretty good idea what the CS:GO, or Tomb Raider, or GTA benchmarks show, we have an idea what performance should be like...
