I thought the quarter wasn't too bad for AMD. They bled $100MM by my #'s. Inventory finally came down as did AR which is why the cash went up but at the same time, it reduces their future borrowing base. The main problem they have is gross margins, they somehow need to raise them to the high...

FYI, Western Digital filed for Chapter 11 in early 90's, market cap was $135MM when they came out of it. They had terrible product (40mb 40ms stepper motor drives designed by Tandon) but good people. By filing, they got to start with a clean slate ( puerto rico ops gone, fab gone, etc...)...

Hell has frozen over, Fudzilla Both Microsoft and Intel trying to acquire AMD

Back to original topic: In any event, I think AMD will spin off Radeon/GPU/ATI to raise money. Whether they sell the whole thing, a %, private or public etc.. who knows. The valuation will obviously depend on what overhead is assigned to "ATI" and what is the agreement (royalty, etc..)...
